Updating a Mid-Century Eichler: Before and After_ flexible living

I am a big fan of the mid-century masters and being from the Bay Area, Eichler homes hold a special place in my heart. However, with today's ever changing family structure the homes of the 50's don't always fit the flexible needs of today family unit.

Updating this 5 bedroom Eichler home, I've converted two of those bedrooms to a flexible in-law/ guest quarters/ income property unit by taking advantage of an existing door (see the yellow door to the side) that also opens to the front porch and adding a full bath, living quarters, and a fully functional kitchenette that looks onto the Eichler signature atrium.

The images below show the changes to the highlighted area on the before plan. Check back for more changes to the kitchen and then the plan as a whole.
Before Plan
The before plan showing two smaller, smaller by today's standards, bedrooms and the storage unit that is accessible from the front patio.

After Plan
The after plan featuring the new flexible in-law/ guest quarters/ income property with it's own private entrance, full bath, private living quarters, and fully functional kitchenette.
